Upscale & Enhance doubles the width and height of a photo with Real-ESRGAN, an AI model trained to sharpen edges and smooth out compression blur while it enlarges. A 1000 × 750 picture comes back at 2000 × 1500 — four times the pixels — as a PNG.
It runs in the cloud, not in your browser: the image is sent to Replicate, where the model runs, and you need an Abzar account. Real-ESRGAN enlarges what is already in the picture rather than inventing new content, so it will not turn an unreadable face or number plate into a sharp one. If Replicate is unavailable, the job falls back to Google's Gemini image model at 2K, which redraws the image and can change small details.
How to use
Sign in and add a photo — JPG, PNG or WebP. Small, soft or heavily compressed pictures gain the most.
Check the cost (1 credit) and start; the job runs in the cloud and the page waits for the result.
Compare the result with the original and download the PNG at twice the width and height.
FAQ
How much bigger does the image get?
Twice the width and twice the height, so four times as many pixels. There is no 4× setting at the moment.
Will it fix a blurry photo?
It helps with softness that comes from a small size or JPEG compression: edges get crisper and blocky artefacts smoother. It cannot recover detail the camera never captured — camera shake, missed focus or a face only a few pixels wide stay unclear, and faces get no special treatment.
Is my photo uploaded?
Yes, this is a cloud tool. The image goes over an encrypted connection to Replicate (or, if it is down, to Google Gemini) only to run the job. Abzar hands the result back to your browser and keeps nothing unless you save it to your account.
What does it cost?
1 credit per image. The credit is taken when the job starts and returned automatically if it fails. You need a free account; free accounts get a credit allowance every month.
