Extract Audio

Pull the audio track out.

Extract Audio takes the sound track out of a video and saves it as an MP3 — the song from a music video you own, the talk from a recorded lecture, a voice memo that was filmed instead of recorded. MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and other common video files go in; a 192 kbps MP3 comes out.

The extraction runs in your browser with ffmpeg, so the video is never uploaded and there is no account to create. The whole sound track is converted; if you only need part of it, cut the MP3 afterwards with Trim Audio.

How to use

  1. Add the video whose sound you want.
  2. Run it — the picture is discarded and the audio is encoded to MP3.
  3. Play the result in the preview, then download the MP3.

FAQ

What quality is the MP3?
It is encoded at 192 kbps, which most listeners cannot tell apart from the original for speech and music. It is a re-encode, though, not a bit-for-bit copy of the original track.
Can I get WAV, M4A or FLAC instead?
Not directly — this tool always writes MP3. Run the MP3 through Convert Audio for WAV or FLAC; converting to a lossless format does not bring back detail the MP3 left out.
Is my video uploaded?
No. ffmpeg runs inside your browser tab and the MP3 is created there. Nothing reaches a server.
Why did it fail on my video?
Most often the video has no sound track at all — screen recordings and some exported clips are silent. Very large files can also run out of browser memory, especially on phones.
